Free Comic Book Script - Odd Lott by Stephen Sonneveld
Theme: Crom Myth
10 Pages
Odd Lott Summary:
In a devout village, a grieving man named Lott brings the body of his emaciated son to be buried, steadfast in his faith despite losing everything—his farm, wife, and now child. However, Mother Ranier, once equally pious, suspects divine cruelty has gone too far and secretly hires Crom the Barbarian to kill the god responsible.
As Crom investigates, he uncovers disturbing truths: the tragedies that befell Lott’s family were not acts of God, but deliberate, calculated acts of Lott himself. He poisoned his wife, starved his son, and engineered their suffering—all to be revered as God’s most devoted servant. Crom confronts Lott, and when Lott attacks, Crom kills him.
Yet the act brings no peace. Mother Ranier, devastated and disillusioned, doesn’t find closure. Crom, now uncertain whether gods exist at all, reflects that people often prefer blaming gods over accepting the cold indifference of nature. As he departs, he finds Lott’s house turned into a tourist attraction by a charlatan—highlighting humanity’s unrelenting thirst for myth, even in tragedy.
